Saana Tolonen – Aerial Hoop

Saana Tolonen is a circus artist from the North of Finland, Lapland. Saana first set foot on stage at the age of three.  Since then, being on stage has felt natural to her. Moving and dancing have been part of her life already for a longer time, but it wasn’t till the age of thirteen that circus entered her life. During her circus and performance studies in Turku, Finland, Saana spent an exchange year in Codarts and decided to continue developing her skills there. Now, after four years of studies, she is graduating specialising in aerial hoop.

About the act: Every Other Wednesday
Every Other Wednesday shares a moment together with a bubbly character Tilda. Glimpses of madness enter in everyone’s life. Tilda shows this chaos in her mind on the outside and invites the spectators to join her journey. Inspiration for the movements comes from the relationship between the object, aerial hoop, and the possibilities the object offers. It researches the ways of using the aerial hoop transitioned to the floor and it’s dynamics towards air.
